April 26th Quick Pitching Notes
I’m rarely ever able to do a full slate—takes so much time! But I can give you a very quick rundown of who I like and who I don’t. It won’t have all the detail it usually does, but this should get you started. The Daily Doctor’s Note: Read it and get better!
Kershaw: Fade. Too many other great options. Too expensive. (Watch this come back to bite me)
Scherzer: Like him in both formats. Should rack up Ks and a win, but hasn’t impressed lately. Still, PHI should be good for him.
Sale: Like him a lot for GPPs, a little less for cash. TOR still striking out a lot and not yet hitting stride offensively. Sale is elite.
Price: Should be an excellent option for both GPPs and cash. ATL can’t hit Ls.
Cueto: Another elite guy in a great matchup. Either format.
Keuchel: With so many other good options, don’t like him as much here.
Velazquez: Cooling off? Like him for GPPs. Tough matchup for cash games. Low ownership likely.
Martinez: Not ideal matchup. Fade on such a strong slate, but could be ok.
Hendricks: If wind blowing in at Wrigley, like Hendricks a lot. Under the radar pick but could rack up the Ks.
Jimenez: Doesn’t make you feel good, but K potential there. GPP only.
Shields: Don’t like this play at all.
Odorizzi: High-risk, high-reward. Think the downside outweighs the upside. GPP only but I will fade.
Volquez: Chalky play. Is LAA coming out of it? Fine for cash or GPP, but he will eventually churn out a bad game. Might be here.
Karns: Super-high risk with great K upside. At first glance, I’ll fade, but warrants a deeper look.
Nelson: Won’t necessary stack against him, but I’m not playing him, either.
Hill: Surprisingly effective, but DET should be able to get to him. I’ll fade, but I can see merit in a GPP.
Cole: Coors discount in play, but you’re playing Russian Roulette if you go there.
Severino: Not much I like here.
Dickey: Fade, fade, fade.
Griffin: Yankee lefties should eat him alive. NYY stack in full play.
Nolasco: Don’t see much value here.
Koehler: K upside absent in this matchup.
Miller: This is a terrible spot for him. Fade.
Colon: Like him here, esp. at home. Don’t mind him in either cash or GPP. How he is still pitching effectively, I don’t know, but not my concern!
Finnegan: NYM hitting things hard again. If he cuts back on walks, maybe, but doesn’t look promising. Fade.
Weaver: Not a chance.
Wisler: I don’t hate the matchup, but I wouldn’t play it.
Anderson: Twins should smack him around a bit. Don’t like this play.
De La Rosa: I don’t mind DLR at home, honestly. You could do worse. If he keeps the walks under control, he’ll be ok. But PIT not a great matchup here.
Pelfrey: Where did Spring Training Mike Pelfrey go? There is nothing at all I like about him today.
