When playing MLB DFS one important thing to notice is the weather. Lineups can be ruined because of not noticing an incoming storm that may cancel a game. But within the category of weather, is the sub-category of WIND. I found some tools that allowed me to track a ton of different kind of data.
One of the things I was interested in looking up was the hitting production based on which way the wind was blowing.
The different factors I used were “Wind Blowing In”, “Wind Blowing Out”, “Wind Blowing Left->Right”, and “Wind Blowing Right->Left”. This was over a 2 year sample size starting from the first week of the 2014 season, with a minimum wind of 5 mph, just for the sake of this article, there needs to be at least a little wind involved.
I found that there’s a definite correlation of Homerun hitting depending on the different directions of wind. Therefore, the only outcomes that are selected are HOMERUNS, I’m trying to find ways to predict when players are more likely to hit, or give up bombs
