Draftkings Top Plays — Monday July 27th
Below I will give you a few players who have extraordinary matchups today. I don’t worry too much about the Price when I’m looking at these players, In these Top Play articles, I’m just look for players whose statistics and matchups just jump off the Page.
1B Paul Goldschmidt ($6,000)
Goldy is my top play of the day tonight. He’s been arguably the best hitter in baseball this year, and he hits Lefties and Righties better than most people in the league. Only Mike Trout and Miguel Cabrera are on his level as a pure hitter in my opinion. While Goldy hits everyone well, he does hit Lefites better than he hits Righties, dh has a .446 wOBA and ridiculous .275 ISO vs Left Handed Pitching this Season. The matchup today is vs the young, unproven Lefty Mike Montgomery, who has pitched well at times this Season. However, vs a hitter the caliber of Goldschmidt I’ll take my chances and pay up for Goldy here.
3B Alex Rodriguez ($5,600)
ARod, fresh off his 3 Dong Performance yesterday, will probably be higher owned than he has been recently. However, the high price may keep some people off of him. Today, Rodriguez gets a juicy matchup today with Left Hander Matt Harrison, who has allowed a .392 wOBA to Right Handers in his only 2 starts this Season. Its worth noting that Harrison got shelled in his first outing this year at Home vs Arizona, but then followed it up with a pretty solid performance at Coors field, only giving up 7 hits and allowing zero earned runs in 6 innings vs the Rockies .
Regardless of his solid game @Coors, I’d still favor Alex Rodriguez heavily in this matchup today.
OF Nelson Cruz ($5,000)
Its hard for me not to rank Nelson Cruz #1 today, honestly, I think these 3 Players are all tied for the Top Play of the day. All of them have Multi Dong Potential tonight. Cruz gets a matchup vs Left Hander Robbie Ray. Like Montgomery, Ray has pitched well at times this year, but, this matchup is a very tough one for him vs Cruz.
Cruz comes into the game with a .417 wOBA vs Left handed pitching this year, to go along with .256 ISO. He faces a guy in Robbie Ray who is giving up some really hard contact to Right Handed batters. So far this Season, Ray has allowed a 43% Hard Hit Ball rate to Righties. When you combine that with his 47% fly ball rate allowed to right handed hitters, I think it spells disaster for him in this matchup. My prediction is that Cruz will break out the Boom Stick at least once tonight vs Ray, maybe twice.
