Draftkings Top Value Plays — Monday July 27th
On a night like tonight, with a medium slate of 9 games, there will be a very heavy hitters that you’ll want to get into all of your lineups. To do that, you’re going to need to find some value. When looking at value players, you’re not looking for them to hit multiple home runs, you’re simply looking for someone whose who is batting in a good position in the order (1-5) and whose price is low enough to help you get some big boppers in your lineup.
Roster construction will be key tonight, as some of these guys will be pretty popular
2B/SS Cliff Pennington ($2,000)
Pennington leads off our list of value players, and for good reason. An absolute minimum salary player on Draftkings, who generally hits near the top of the lineup when he gets a matchup with a left handed pitcher. Dating back to the start of the 2014 Season, Pennington has a .386 On Base % and a and a 122 WRC+ vs Left handed pitching. Now, these numbers aren’t worldly, but they are very serviceable for a minimum priced player. He’ll give a you a few points without killing your lineup and allow you to fit in some of the studs tonight.
OF Chris Young ($3,200)
The Yankees have a real juicy matchup tonight in Texas vs Lefty Matt Harrison. They will be a very popular stack tonight and Chris Young is likely to be squarely in the middle of all of them. Young has been on a tear this year, absolutely smashing left handed pitching to the tune of .374 Avg, .430 On Base %, .475 wOBA and a .319 ISO. To say that he is “seeing the ball well” this season vs LHP would be an extreme understatement. Simply put, get this guy in your lineups tonight.
OF Corey Dickerson ($3,400)
I don’t usually play guys from the Rockies outside of Coors Field, but, tonight I think Dickerson makes a solid value play on Draftkings. There is a modest amount of risk involved with Dickerson tonight, as he doesn’t have what I would call and “easy” matchup tonight, vs the Cubs Kyle Hendricks, and he’s been dealing with a nagging Planter Fascitis issue. Dating back to last season, Dickerson has a .408 wOBA, .956 OPS and .268 ISO vs Right Handed pitching. While I probably wont play him in my cash games, simply because of the risk, I think he makes a great value GPP play tonight.
