The Early games are under way, but we’ve got another slate to tackle starting tonight at 7:05. I’ll do my best to give you some of the top plays for this evenings slate below. 1B Joey Votto ($4,600)

At first glance, you wouldn’t think that Votto would have a very good matchup tonight vs John Lackey who has been pitching very well so far this season. When you dig deaper however, you realize that Lackey is pitching over his head right now. Coming into today, Lackey has an ERA of just 2.74 vs LHB. However, he has an XFIP of 4.99 vs LHB, which suggests that he’s been getting fairly “lucky” so far this season. If you’re not familiar with what the statistic “xFIP” means, I’ll break it down as simple as I can… Basically, the ERA stat doesn’t factor in anything, other than the amount of Earned Runs a Pitcher allows. Where xFIP comes into play, is that it also factors in the pitchers Defense, behind him. So, when a pitchers ERA is way higher than his xFIP, we can conclude that he’s not really pitching all that great, but rather, he’s being helped out by very good defensive play behind him. This leads to the idea that a Pitcher is “due” for some regression in the near future. Well, I’m thinking that future is today, as the Reds have some powerful Lefties in their lineup. Votto will lead the charge tonight

OF Bryce Harper ($5,500)

I think the Marlins Organization should hand out protective armor for its fans entering the Right Field Bleachers Wednesday night as Bryce Harper is my favorite to go long dong tonight. He squares off vs Tom Koehler who has been terrible vs Lefty Hitters this year. Koehler, who is allowing a crazy high 39% Hard Contact % to Lefties will not get any help from his “stuff” tonight. He’s barely striking out over 15% of all Left Handed baters he faces. He’s a pitch to contact pitcher, and, when Lefties make contact, they hit it hard. Not a good formula for Koehler tonight. Harper owns a .408 wOBA and a .248 ISO vs Righties with a 163 WRC+ (a score of 100 WRC+ is average) so that means that Harper is 63% Above the Average hitter tonight. He’s my Dong of the Day, mark it down, bet the farm, whatever you gotta do, get him in your lineups.

Toranto Blue Jays (play them all, when and where you can)

No Home Jerome gets his crack at this stacked Blue Jays Offense tonight. Some people might be off the Jays (i doubt it) tonight because of their Dud last night in what looked like a dream matchup vs Lefty Adam Morgan. However, I don’t think we should ignore them tonight as they get yet another terrible pitcher in Jerome Williams. The righty has a .408 wOBA and has given up nearly 3 HR per game to Right Handed Hitters this year. He has a FB/HR% of 27% !!! I don’t really know what else to say other than every single Blue Jay is in play tonight. Oh, yeah, and there is a new guy in town, Troy Tulowitzki will get his 1st at bats tonight as the newest member of the Blue Jays… Good luck stackers!
